Social Media Disclaimer for the Town of Pittsboro
The Town of Pittsboro operates and manages social media platforms to engage with its residents, businesses, and visitors, and to provide timely and relevant information about the activities and services of the town. Please note that these accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For urgent needs or utility matters, please contact Town Hall at 91544621. For emergencies, please call 911.
Moderated Platform and Limited Public Forum
Our social media accounts are considered limited public forums and are moderated. Public comments posted on our platforms do not necessarily reflect the opinions or positions of the Town of Pittsboro, its officials, agents, or employees.
Content Guidelines
We encourage comments and discussions that pertain to topics within the jurisdictional control or authority of our Town. Any content that is deemed inappropriate or does not meet the purpose of the site may be removed immediately without advance warning. This includes, but is not limited to, content that is obscene, profane, defamatory, promotes violence or illegal activity, infringes on copyrights or trademarks, contains personal medical information, promotes political organizations, or otherwise does not relate to the jurisdiction or authority of the Town. Users who violate these guidelines may be banned from our social media sites.
Appeals
If a user feels aggrieved by the Town's decision to remove their content or block their access, they may submit a written request to the Town Manager explaining why the content should be allowed or providing a legal basis for their right to participate.
Public Record
In accordance with North Carolina law, all comments and posts are considered public records and are subject to public disclosure.
